Win a whistle!

The ACME whistle company are running a photo competition to win a personalised engraved ACME Thunderer whistle. Simply post a selfie of you and your whistle on your chosen social media, with this text: “I nominate (tag a minimum of 2 fellow refs but the more the merrier) to take part in the @acme_whistles selfie competition to be in with a chance of winning a personalised ACME Thunderer. @acme_whistles @RFU_refs #BEPARTOFTHETEAM (tag NMRefs and the club where you are)”

League structure reminder

A reminder that the local league structure will be changing for the season 2022-23, which will have an effect on the way the Society appoints referees, especially at level 6, and also on the grading and level allocation of current referees. Full details will be discussed at the AGM, but in summary:

Level 3 will have 1 league (National 1) / Level 4 will have 3 leagues (National 2 – was 2 leagues). Referee appointments for these two levels will be handled at National level by the RFU

Level 5 will have 6 leagues (regional ‘Premier’ – was 4). Referee appointments for level 5 matches will be handled by a group of Societies, dependent upon which clubs from any given Society area are in which league.

Level 6 will have 12 leagues (‘Div 1’ leagues – was 6). Referee appointments for level 6 may be handled by local Societies as now, or may be handled by federations, dependent again upon which clubs are in which leagues

Level 7 will have approx 16, Level 8 approx 20, and Level 9 a number to be confirmed. These are dependent on the allocation of teams to each league, which will take place in June once final standings from the current season are known
