Friday Bulletin 11 February: See You Soon!

Training Session IN PERSON!!

A reminder that the first in-person training session for many months will be on Thursday 17th February with our Training Director and Premiership/Championship Referee Neil Chivers. This will be held at 7pm at Edwardian RFC, Streetsbrook Road, Solihull B90 3PE, and is a great chance to see each other in person, have a good ‘rugby catch-up’, and also hopefully add to your referee learning!

Law Clarifications

World Rugby has so fare published two new guidance notes on interpretation of the laws: You can find the clarifications here (simultaneous grounding) and here (when the ball is ‘out’). These and others will be discussed during our session on 17th

Photography and videoing at matches

A question was recently asked in our Facebook Group regarding videoing and photography at matches, particularly at age-grade. The RFU publishes some guidance on this which can be found here, however the Board are also working on a ‘useful summary’ of this tricky area for our referees which should be published shortly

From Monday 14th February the RFU will be running a campaign for several weeks focusing on the core values of the game (TREDS). The campaign starts (appropriately for Valentine’s Day) with a week where everyone is invited to share what they love about the game on social media, using #LoveRugby and #BackInTheGame.

Speak up!

A separate part of the RFU’s above mentioned campaign encourages all those involved in community rugby to ‘Speak up’ about anything causing concern. “The RFU will not tolerate any behaviour contradicting the core values and is committed to ensuring everyone involved in rugby union can report any unacceptable behaviours via our Speak Up channels. If you have any such concerns, you can email

Society Kit

The link to purchase Society kit from our supplier Maple Workwear is now to be found in our Useful Documents section

Your Society (Still) needs you!

Just a reminder that our treasurer would be very grateful for any assistance (even just an hour or so a week) that can be offered with some of our membership administration: please contact him on if you are able to assist.

  1. Will this event be streamed over Zoom or Teams for those of us who cannot attend in person at 7pm in Solihull?
