Pitch up for Rugby

Put Saturday 4 – Sunday 12 September in your diary and Pitch Up For Rugby!

Although aimed primarily at Clubs it is good to know what is happening
Check in with your local club to see what they have planned as we encourage clubs across the country to join in a national celebration now rugby is back on the menu.

Return to Full Contact Rugby

After almost 16 months without full contact rugby, players in the community game can return to scrums and mauls in training from 19 July. Full contact friendlies can start from 7 August for clubs that wish and for players who feel physically and technically ready.

Clubs, coaches and players should follow all return to scrummaging and maul guidance which includes an incremental approach in training before match play. More information.

Pitch Up to Support The Game You Love

• You may already be planning to start the new season as normal with your club – brilliant!

• You may be wondering if you’ve got another season in you after a long lay-off – you have! You don’t have to be on top of your game immediately, there’s time to build-up gradually. There will be a variety of rugby on offer from non-contact, to reduced contact, to full contact. Simply dust off your boots and support your local club as they get the game back up and running.

• You may have gone on to play, coach or referee at a higher level, but that doesn’t mean you will have forgotten where you started. Please make an effort to go back to where it began, to support the people who helped you on your way and to inspire the next generation to keep a rugby ball in their hands.

• You don’t even have to play. Off-field social support is as important as the on-field teamwork. The clubhouse needs you after being empty for so long!

Spread the word and get your mates together to Pitch Up For Rugby at your local club.

Pitch Up For Rugby is being supported by the National Lottery.
