Leonie Pryor makes Twickenham Debut

NMSRFR member Leonie Pryor made her debut appearance at Twickenham on Sunday 9th June. As part of NatWest RugbyForce, all clubs registered were entered into a draw for their players to have a chance to be selected to join the Grassroots Barbarians, who were coached by Will Greenwood and Maggie Alphonsi.

Leonie was part of the team of three for the women’s fixture, and below shares her thoughts from the day.

Pinch me I must’ve dreamt it! From the moment my yellow jersey arrived in the post the excitement of officiating at HQ started to build.
My Twickers debut was absolutely incredible, I loved every second of it and didn’t want the day to end. I don’t really know where to start as it all seemed so surreal; warming up on the pitch, stretching against the posts, doing the player boot check and team briefs in the England team changing room, running out of the tunnel, being surrounded by photographers and video cameras before, during and after the game, spotting myself on the big screen, meeting some rugby legends, the list goes on.
The stadium may have had a small audience but the atmosphere was electric and their cheers boomed across the pitch.
The officials, players and their supporters had a very special day and I am so grateful to the RFU staff who made it all happen and gave me the opportunity to be a part it.
Congratulations to Leonie from all at NMSRFR. Here are some photos from the day.
