Friday Bulletin – AGM Updates

Thanks for all those that attended the AGM last night at Old Hales RFC, it was great to see you all and share some exciting news about the Society both in the here and now, summer rugby and what lies ahead into next season. I hope you all enjoyed the presentation from our Guest Speaker, TMO David Rose, and the opportunity to catch up with other referees.

For those unable to attend the AGM a short recap on the night:

Elections

Julian Edwards stepped down from his role as Director of Communications with myself, Neil Stone, replacing him. Julian took the society communication streams across all platforms to a new level along with building the website to what it is today. On behalf of the society I’d like to thank him for his valuable contribution and I for one am certainly happy with the work Julian put in to get everything in place.

Ray Jones is the new Society President for the 2023/24 season replacing John Kelly, more to follow on this story.

All other board members were re-elected with details to follow on the website over the coming weeks regarding roles etc.

In what is very exciting news we have replaced our current kit providers, Gilbert, with Stag Sports offering the full suite of kit including match shirts. Check out the website here taking you to the North Mids Society page.

To celebrate this move our FD is working up details on supplying one new match shirt for all referees and weatherproof tops for watchers for free. Further details will be supplied nearer the time but we will look to run this offer in August for all fully paid up members for the 2023/24 season.

I will also add the link to our social pages and website over the coming days.

Expenses

Expenses are now due to be submitted up to 30 April 2023, If you can ensure all submissions are made through ‘who’s the ref’ by the 5 May 2023 with payment expected towards the end of the month. Please ensure that if you have changed your bank account since last being paid Ian is notified.

Summer Rugby

Summer rugby will soon be commencing and if anybody would like to volunteer some of their time to help the society assign fixtures that would be greatly appreciated. If you’re interested please get in touch to find out more.

Summer rugby fixtures will be appointed through Who’s the Ref so please ensure your availability is up to date. Payment of expenses will need to be organised with the club and will not be done through the Society, we have informed all clubs of the standard rate of 45p / mile so please check with the club rep when confirming the fixture.

More information will follow in the weekly bulletins as we move into the summer and the new season surrounding Training, Development, Communications, YMO’s and everything else Ref / Watcher related. If anyone has any ideas for content or things they’d like to see please feel free to drop me a note.

Happy Reffing!
