Kelvin Roberts – RFU recognition
At the England v Japan match in the Autumn of 2022, the RFU recognised our Chair for his contribution to rugby in North MIds, with a commemorative dinner and certificate. A ‘citation’ was placed on the table which read as follows:
“Kelvin joined the Society in 1978 & advanced to the level of County Panel Referee. Since retiring from active refereeing he has been instrumental in encouraging Club referees to take the ERRA course & progress to becoming a Society referee. Over the years he has worked hard to encourage young male & female new members to become YMOs (Young Match Officials) & subsequently join the Society as qualified referees. He has coached several National Panel Referees helping them to progress through the system.”

Senior’ team give students a run for their money!
Three of our most senior referees (in terms of standing, not age….!) recently took charge of a University of Birmingham 1st XV match: This would not normally be a newsworthy event , except that the combined age of the TO3 of 178 years nearly exceeded the combined age of one of the entire teams!
2023 Six Nations Tickets
Important reminder about Six Nations tickets: If you have purchased mobile tickets, you will only be able to access Twickenham Stadium by holding a valid ticket on The Twickenham Stadium App.
Every person attending with a mobile ticket must have their own mobile ticket on their own device unless they are accompanied minors (those under 18 – where proof of age may be required) or for those with accessibility tickets.
Please note:
• If you haven’t already done so, please download the app via the App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android.
• During the app account setup process you need to verify your mobile phone number and an email address, ensuring the mobile number matches that entered on your ticketing account at the time of purchase.
• Your ticket(s) will be displayed on the main My Tickets tab within the app and each ticket will display a unique QR code providing fast and secure access into the event.
• The QR code will only appear on your ticket 48 hours before kick-off. Once your QR code has appeared, your ticket will work without a data connection – please don’t screenshot this on your mobile at any point.

Kelvin has worked ceaselessly to promote all the key values of the North Mids refs over many years, going back to the black & white days! He is an inspiration to everybody for his voluntary contributions to all that is good within the Society & should be recognised as a true leader. Keep going Kelvin!
