Friday bulletin 21 April 2023

Society AGM

The Society AGM will take place next Thursday 27 April, 7pm (please note time!) at Old Hales RFC, Wassell Gr La, Stourbridge DY9 9JP. The guest speaker will be former Society member and current Premiership TMO David Rose.

Food will be available, and there is also some more positive and exciting news about referee kit, so please make every effort to attend if you can.

The list of candidates standing for election can be found in the Bulletin from 7th April here

Where could your refereeing journey take you?

Some more success and progression to report for Society members in recent times: Former YMO Callum Watson refereed his first National League 1 fixture last week, taking charge of Plymouth’s 36-21 win at Leeds Tykes, and former member Mel Wright was in the middle for the culmination of the University rugby season, the BUCS Women’s National League Final between Hartpury College and Exeter University.

Season expenses and Summer Rugby

You should now have received notification about claiming match expenses for the second half of this season via WTR, which applies to any fixtures up to and including 30 April 2023. If you are unsure about how to process your claim, click here to view a helpful short video

A further notice will shortly be sent out via Who’s The Ref to all clubs and officials regarding summer rugby appointment and expense claim procedures. Full details will be in the notice, but in summary:

That’s all folks – a personal note

This is my last bulletin before I step down from the Communication Director post at the AGM next week. I hope that you’ve found the (almost) weekly bulletins useful over the last couple of years, and I hope that I’m leaving the Society website and communications in a good place. Please do continue to make suggestions to the new Communication Director, use the content of the website for your personal refereeing benefit, and above all engage with the Society’s communication activities. See you on the field, whistle in hand..!
