Coronavirus (COVID-19) Advice

All match officials should be aware of the latest advice from the Government, Health Authorities and the RFU regarding Covid-19 especially those deemed to be High Risk. Please bear this advice in mind before accepting a match appointment and please contact the Society if you have any concerns.

High risk: Individuals who are over the age of 70 and/or have a long-term health condition such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease or have a low immune system or provide care for someone else who is high risk.

Medium risk: Individuals who are between the ages of 50-69 (with no other health conditions) are also at a higher risk of becoming more unwell than those who are younger, although studies show that the risk is lower for this group.

Low risk: Studies have shown that the majority of people under the age of 50 (with no other health conditions) who contract the virus experience mild to moderate symptoms.

Whether you are at home or in the community, following Government guidance to take basic hygiene precautions remains the best way of significantly reducing the chances of spreading any virus. Sneeze or cough into a tissue and bin it. Wash your hands frequently and don’t touch your face unless you’ve just washed your hands. We should wash our hands for about 20 seconds and do this regularly throughout the day and before eating or handling food.

This is a rapidly changing situation and further information will be issued whenever possible.

It follows that any decision as to whether to referee or not has to been down to the individual. All we ask is that if you decide NOT to referee you inform the appointment officers as soon as possible. If the game has already been confirmed with you by the Club please try to notify the club of your withdrawal.
